My name is Kimberly and I am a third year Mechanical engineering major here at Berkeley. I have a passion for biotech and all things design related. I am currently involved in research at the Berkeley Biomechanics Lab where I currently assist in data collecting and analysis on tendon mechanics and deformation. Throughout my time at Berkeley, I have been a part of Enabletech and the Hispanic Engineers and Scientists (HES) outreach committee. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy listening to music, binge-watching shows, and exploring the Bay Area
with my friends.
Cal NERDS has allowed me to flourish academically. It has provided me with a space to focus on my studies as well as rest between classes ensuring that I can recharge and maintain focus during my lectures. It has surrounded me with a community of people who are similar to myself as we aim to reach higher levels of education. Overall, Cal NERDS provides me with a supportive environment necessary to thrive as an underrepresented minority in the challenging STEM field. And it is for this reason that is why I am proud to call myself a NERD!
