I grew up in the city of Bell Gardens, CA and briefly in San Angelo, TX in middle school. My STEM interests are nuclear applications in imaging and medicine! Some of my outside hobbies are gardening, cooking, kayaking and more recently general boat maintenance. I also play a variety of instruments but I mostly sing and play the guitar. You might find me doing so with Mariachi Luz de Oro here at Cal or at mass on Sundays. The clubs I am involved with here on campus are American Nuclear Society, Hispanic Engineers and Scientists and Mariachi Luz de Oro; I have held officer positions in the last two. I am grateful for being a NSF CAMP and Gates Millennium Scholar, as their continuing support has made a huge impact on where I am and will be academically!
NERDS has helped me immensely by creating a community in which there is a welcoming ambient and a sense of belonging to me. To further reiterate, this has been a place on campus that I gravitate towards to when I want to be productive for long hours without feeling like I am taking up space from someone else.
